Fees & Funding
Please contact us for a detailed fee schedule for each of our services.
You do not need a referral to access services at Step by Step Psychology.
However, there are a number of funding options for which you may be eligible to receive to assist with the cost of therapy and assessment, for which a referral is necessary. These include NDIS, Better Access to Mental Health Care Plan (Medicare), Helping Children with Autism assessment rebates (Medicare) and Chronic Disease Management Plans (Medicare).
Your private health insurance may also provide a rebate (depending on cover) and does not require a referral to be used.
The initiative entitles clients up to 10 medicare rebateable sessions in a calendar year. Clients with mental health concerns such as anxiety, bereavement, depression, sleep difficulties, attention deficit disorder and post traumatic stress disorder may be eligible to receive this funding (this is not an exhaustive list). Contact your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician to discuss a referral if you believe you may be entitiled to receive this funding.
Go to Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative for more information and to determine whether you or your child may eligible.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS provides individuals living with permanent and significant disability with supports they need to live an ordinary life). Step by Step is currently not a registered provider of the NDIS but does accept self-managed clients.
Find out more information about the NDIS and as to whether yourself or your child is eligible on the NDIS website.
We are a FaHCSIA provider, and children with FaHCSIA funding are entitled up to $12,000 to access early intervention services, for use before their seventh birthday.
Additionally, the HCWA Initiative entitles children to access rebates for 4 sessions of assessment and up to 20 sessions of intervention until the age of fifteen. The referral can be obtained from your child’s paediatrician, a psychiatrist and must be done so prior to their thirteenth birthday.
Following diagnosis, an autism advisor (1300 424 999) can assist with determining eligibility for, and access to, funding through the HCWA Initiative.
Previously known as the Enhanced Primary Care plan, the Chronic Disease Management Plan enables clients to receive up to 5 rebateable sessions per calendar year, in addition to other medicare funding such as the Mental Health Care Plan Initiative. The chronic disease management initiative is available for clients with chronic concerns such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, cancer and cardiovascular disease and referrals must be made by your GP.
Go to Chronic Disease Management Initiative for more information.
As of 1st November 2021, Step by Step’s cancellation policy is as follows:
- 50% of the scheduled fee will be charged where notice of cancellation is not given within 24 hours.
- 100% of the scheduled fee will be charged in situation where there is a failure to attend the appointment without notice.
Cancellation fees cannot be claimed through Medicare nor are they payable through government funding options such as FaHCSIA.
If the client is greater than 20 minutes late for a standard 50 minute session, Step by Step Psychology has the right to cancel the session in the interests of the client, as shorter sessions are often not conducive to therapy.
Thank you for understanding the need for a cancellation policy, in order to allow the clinic to run smoothly, while providing the opportunity for all clients to have access to their preferred appointment times.
